Dear WDSF Members,
Dear colleagues,
Dear friends,
It has become increasingly clear that, in this important election year for the WDSF, a careful, coordinated, deliberate campaign of misinformation is being waged on numerous fronts against the current WDSF leadership.
The latest attack from these “anonymous” sources and “anonymous” funders has come in the form of a torrent of emails, the latest misleadingly titled “WDSF DanceSport Festival at Blackpool: Important Notice & A Letter to the International Olympic Committee.” These emails have been sent to most if not all of you from an account pretending to be associated with the WDSF and the 2025 WDSF DanceSport Festival in Blackpool (dancesportfestival.wdsf@gmail.com).
They’re trying to mislead you. These emails and the people behind it have nothing whatsoever to do with the WDSF or our upcoming event in Blackpool, and all the allegations levelled are completely baseless. The intent is clearly to sabotage the WDSF’s Blackpool event initiative while simultaneously – and more disgracefully – attempting to harm the excellent relationship we enjoy with the International Olympic Committee in an attempt to terminate our right as the global governing body for all DanceSport disciplines to continue overseeing Breaking’s Olympic journey.
Once again underscoring our commitment to openness and transparency, and in keeping with our duty to ensure our members are properly informed, we will provide you in the coming days with a detailed response to the groundless accusations made in these emails.
This follows the already lengthy reply we have produced in response to the false and misleading claims made recently by Swiss broadcaster SRF. Our answers to the SRF’s initial questions can be found in their entirety here. Please note that the WDSF is also preparing a legal response to the SRF reporting.
The “anonymous” sources and “anonymous” funders of these politically motivated emails have zero ties to the WDSF, our Blackpool event, or the Olympic community. With our elections still five months away, and with the safety and security of your IT systems in mind, please be extra careful when opening any links or attachments sent from unfamiliar contacts or email addresses as they could be used for phishing or other fraudulent purposes.
Should you wish to discuss this matter in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
Shawn Tay
WDSF President
